Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s Biju Janata Dal, which is opposing farm bills in current form, vows to continue its fight for implementation of M.S.Swaminathan recommendation for formulating Minimum Support Price (MSP) for farmers.
Addressing the BJD legislature party meeting, BJD President Naveen Patnaik said that welfare of the farmers is the paramount in any of his government’s interventions.
He said, “The BJD is in favour of any initiative that will bring prosperity in the lives of farmers. We will continue our fight for implementation of M.S.Swaminathan recommendation for formulating Minimum Support Price. This will really help the farmers at large”.
“In both houses of Parliament, the BJD raised its concerns regarding protection of farmers interest in the Farmers bill and suggested for close scrutiny by Parliamentary Committee”, he said.
The BJD will form a Committee of MLAs, MPs and leading farmer’s leaders to study the provisions, the party supremo said.
