BJD’s Landslide Victory in Urban Polls Possible Due to Blessings of People: Naveen

Bhubaneswar: The Biju Janata Dal’s landslide victory in the urban local body elections has been possible due to the blessings of the people of Odisha and dedication of the countless party workers, said BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik.

Taking to Twitter, Naveen has thanked the people of the State for reposing their faith on the BJD.


The results of 105 chairperson posts in municipalities/NACs have been declared. The ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has won as many as 73 chairperson seats, while the BJP got 16 seats. The Congress bagged seven seats and others got nine seats.

The Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik-led party has clinched the Mayor post in Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) and is poised to register empathetic victories in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.

The Biju Janata Dal has clinched 1,183 councillor seats out of 1,731. The BJP won 286 seats. Congress could get only 139 seats and others bagged 116 seats.
