Bhubaneswar: Hitting back at the BJP for misleading farmers about the KALIA scheme, Odisha’s ruling Biju Janata Dal on Wednesday alleged that the saffron party does not want the farmers to get benefits under the innovative scheme.
A day after the State Government announced to disburse the second installment of KALIA financial assistance to the eligible farmers in November, the BJP has been trying to spread negativity about the scheme, said the BJD.
Strongly condemning the BJP’s anti-farmer stand, BJD spokesperson and Rajya Sabha MP Dr. Sasmit Patra asked whether the BJP wants the farmers to get deprived from getting the second installment of KALIA assistance.
In a press meet, Patra further alleged that the BJP, which is constantly losing its ground in the State, has resorted to its old habit of spreading misinformation about the farmer welfare schemes like KALIA through press conference.
The KALIA scheme has been widely appreciated both at the national and international level for agricultural prosperity and all-round development of the farmers. Renowned economists and the 15th Finance Commission have highly praised the scheme, the BJD spokesperson said.
He said that the State Government has maintained absolute transparency in implementation of the scheme for the benefits of lakhs of farmers.
It is quite laughable that the BJP has been conspiring to mislead the farmers about the scheme, he said while adding that the farm community will give a befitting reply to the saffron party.
