BMC Commissioner Appeals People to Come Forward For COVID-19 Testing

Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner Prem Chandra Chaudhary today appealed people to come out for testing of Covid-19.

He further said that there is nothing to fear about Covid-19 test, as any person infected with Coronavirus is allowed to opt for home isolation as per govt guidelines and patients with symptoms and co-morbid conditions are only admitted to the hospital.

Narrating about BMC’s strategy, he said, testing, contact tracing, shifting and treatment of patients have been the main part of the COVID fight in the city since the outbreak of pandemic.

Meanwhile the BMC has ramped up the number of tests from 1400 to 1800 per day. Appealing people to go for testing, he said as many as 13 mobile testing van roaming in Bhubaneswar and one should avail the facilities.

In last one week, 17634 tests have been conducted and 1262 positive cases have been detected, he added. Chaudhary further said that said that out of 3573 patients, 2360 have recovered till August 7 which accounts for 63.16 percent.
