Bhubaneswar: Consistency and transparency can better improve the situation. While taking a review Meeting of all staff today, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner Vijay Amruta Kulange told to further improve the status and adopt 5-T.
“Waste to wealth is our objective; we should not compromise with source segregation and zero littering. The Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) set for sanitation will be strictly followed for staff and agencies”, he said.
The sanitation services provided by the BMC is directly linked with zero GPS and efficiency level of personnel engaged.
Field level review of activities need to be shared for its greater impact and improvisation of situation. Real time attendance and response at all level can ensure solutions for sanitation. Officers, sanitary inspectors, ward officers; agency supervisors should work in co-ordination with each other for ensuring time line. Segregation level will reflect city’s performance on sanitation.
While BMC is adopting new technologies like wealth centre for processing of waste, for monitoring of activities we have Willkie Talkies, Safa App, Dash Board and Social Media Groups. All these are meant for real time solution of sanitation issues with the involvement of team BMC.
Use of technologies brings transparency where personnel engaged will finish her/his responsibilities as required from time to time. On the other hand, BMC is opened to the public where they do put online grievance and possible solutions are being shared. All these are the instances of transparency which bring transformation with regards to city sanitation; told Commissioner. Sanitation is non-negotiable and basic of city’s liveability indicator, he added.
SIs, Exports, Agency Supervisors and Officers given the responsibilities of sanitation should best utilize the technologies for better result and there is no escape in the process. The house discussed to plan for ward wise and lane wise review by concerned officials.
The meeting was attended by Addl. Commissioners, City Er, Zonal Dy. Commissioners, Ward Officers, Sanitation Inspectors, Swachha Supervisor, NGO partners, Agency representatives, SBA cell and Sanitation Experts. Addl. Commissioner Sanitation and Dy. Commissioner Sanitation facilitated the session.
