Bhubaneswar: Continuing its efforts to empower transgenders, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has handed over cesspool vehicles to transgender TG-Swikruti group.
A total of six new vehicles of 1000 ltrs capacity from which four vehicles were handed over to TG-Swikruti group for operation and two vehicles will be operated by BMC.
“In yet another step towards Inclusivity & Empowerment, BMC handed over cesspool vehicles to Transgender TG-Swikruti group. A total of 6 new vehicles of 1000 ltrs capacity from which 4 vehicles were handed over to them for operation & 2 will be operated by BMC”, the civic body informed through a social media post.
BMC Mayor Sulochana Das, Commissioner Vijay Amrita Kulange and other were present in the event.
The BMC has engaged transgender communities in different responsibilities like parking, defaulters’ tax collection and sanitation activities as part of its efforts to empower them.
