BMC Starts Massive Awareness Drive to Curb Dengue Cases, Launches ‘Dry Day Bhubaneswar’ Campaign

Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has started massive awareness drive to prevent the spread of dengue in the State capital city.

The civic body has launched ‘Dry Day Bhubaneswar’ as a campaign to curtail the outbreak of mosquito-borne viral disease in the city.

BMC Commissioner Vijay Amruta Kulange along with other officials visited several places in the city to aware citizen to stop dengue by taking precautionary measures.

Kulange has appealed the people to observe ‘Dry Day’ for two days in a week – Thursday and Sunday.

The Dry Day Bhubaneswar as a citizen driven campaign aims at clearing all unused water filled containments by drying them up.

The civic body has urged the citizens to do extensively search their premises and disrupt mosquito breeding sources.

The strategy is to engage public and private institutions to clean up containers every Thursday in their respective places whereas domestic level drive will be on every Sunday. Such practice in each locality of the city will be leading breakage of mosquito breeding cycle, the BMC said.
