BMC to Start Doorstep COVID-19 Testing Facility for Senior Citizens, Pick & Drop Service for Vaccination

Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) will provide doorstep COVID-19 testing facility for the senior citizens, who cannot visit a testing centre in the city.

Informing this during a media briefing, newly appointed BMC Commissioner Sanjay Kumar Singh said that the civic body will facilitate the collection of sample from the doorstep of senior citizens in the 60 plus age group who are staying alone and are unable to visit testing centres.

He urged the senior citizens to the take the help of 1929 call center if they are unable to go to Covid testing center. The BMC mobile teams will collect samples from their doorstep, he added.

The BMC has also decided to provide pick-up and drop service for the senior citizens, who are staying alone in the city, for vaccination.

For this, they need to call 1929 and provide the address along with a request for the pick-up and drop. The BMC will make an arrangement to ferry them up to the vaccination centre and drop them at their house after being vaccinated, the Commissioner added.
