BMC’s Mo Ward Meeting To Ensure Community Participation Receives Good Response

Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation’s efforts to reach out to the community to solve various issues through Mo Ward meetings has received massive response from the citizens. Within days of its initiation, the special interactive meetings of the civic body has been able to solve many problems and bringing in the citizens to participate in the efforts of the civic body to make the capital city more vibrant, beautiful, clean and green.

The Mo Ward meetings are being held with the participation of the Mayor, BMC Commissioner, Standing Committee Chairmen, Corporators and ward representatives along with common men. While the meetings have become a platform to understand the issues faced by the citizens, the BMC is also utilizing the forum to sensitize and make aware the people about their role in keeping the city clean and safe. The presence of senior officials such as the Deputy Commissioners, Zonal Deputy Commissioners, Health Officers, and team BMC members along with the Resident Welfare Associations is helping in instant and easy solving of the sanitation, communication, drainage and other issues. One of the major aspects of these meetings is spreading the Mo Ward Swacha Ward campaign.

The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation, led by Mayor Sulochana Das and Commissioner Vijaya Amrita Kulange is also utilizing the meetings to make the people aware of the various initiatives taken by the BMC such as five meters radius clean area, cleaning of trees, electricity poles, walls etc to make the city more aesthetic. Also messages of keeping the surrounding areas clean through segregation of waste at home and keeping separate waste bins in households and shops is being given emphasis in the meetings.

Speaking about the meetings, Commissioner Vijay Amruta Kulange says that “We have taken the initiative to organize regular meetings with the stakeholders. The meetings will help up better understand the problems at the grassroots level. The people are connecting with us with interest. Our aim is to develop the city by taking all along. Clean Bhubaneswar, Green Bhubaneswar can be achieved only when the community is with the civic body. We will strive to listen to all in these meetings.”
