Brutal Attack on Kalinga Nagar Displaced People during Utkarsh Odisha Conclave Highly Condemnable: BJD
Bhubaneswar: While efforts are being made for industrial development through Utkarsh Odisha conclave, the brutal attack on peaceful protesters in Kalinga Nagar industrial area in Jajpur district is highly condemnable and has sent a wrong message to the investors, said the opposition Biju Janata Dal.
Lashing out at the state government over the incident, senior BJD leader and former minister Pritiranjan Gharai demanded justice to the displaced people
Addressing a press conference at Sankha Bhawan, Gharai said that former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had launched the ‘Make in Odisha’ programme to make Odisha an industrial state, through which a capital investment of Rs. 16 lakh crore was promised.
Odisha had become the most favored destination for industrialists due to the efforts of former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. In the subsequent period, projects worth about Rs. 8 lakh crore took shape, creating huge employment opportunities. In this process, Kalinga Nagar in Jajpur district has become the largest steel industry hub in the Asian continent, Gharai said.
The incumbent government is only changing the name of the ‘Make in Odisha’ programme and organizing the programme under the name of Utkarsh Odisha. But while on one hand efforts are being made to establish new industrial hub, on the other hand the deadly attack on innocent tribals in Kalinga Nagar is highly condemnable, he added.
