New Delhi: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati announced that her party will fight the by-elections alone in Uttar Pradesh, breaking alliance with the Samajwadi Party (SP).
The BSP has decided to go it alone in the 11 by-polls scheduled to be held soon in the State.
Speaking to the media, the BSP chief said that her party won 10 seats in Uttar Pradesh due to BSP’s traditional vote bank and the votes of the SP could not be transferred to its candidates.
Even strong contenders of SP were defeated. Even Dimple Yadav couldn’t win the Kannauj seat, she said.
She added the “break is temporary” and that the parties might get back together if she’s satisfied with the steps SP chief Akhilesh Yadav takes.
