Budget 2022-23: Odisha Govt Reaffirms Commitment towards Women Empowerment, Allocates Rs 2000 Cr for Mission Shakti Dept

Bhubaneswar: Reaffirming its commitment towards women empowerment in the State, the Odisha Government has allocated a whopping Rs 2,000 crore for Mission Shakti Department in the Budget for 2022-23 financial year presented by Finance Minister Niranjan Pujari in the Assembly on Saturday.

The provision of Rs 2,000 crore has been made in the Budget to further strengthen the ongoing Mission Shakti movement in the State, which has given a special identity to 70 lakh women in the form of self-help groups (SHGs) in Odisha.

The Rs 2,000 crore budgetary allocation, which includes Rs 1039 crore under the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM), Rs 773 crore of financial assistance to women SHGs and their Federations and Rs 176 crore for construction of Mission Shakti Gruhas, will further deepen the Mission Shakti Department’s engagement with 70 lakh women of in the State.

The Mission Shakti movement, which is a testimony to the commitment of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to the cause of women’s empowerment in Odisha, received a major boost in the 2022-23 Budget.
