Bhubaneswar: The Citizenship Amendment Bill 2019 (CAB) should not be linked with the National Register of Citizens (NRC), said Biju Janata Dal Lok Sabha MP Sarmistha Sethi.
She said that the NRC is a different subject and calls for a greater discussion on it and it should not be linked with the CAB.
Appealing the political parties not to politicize the Citizenship Amendment Bill 2019, the BJD MP said that the Bill should not be viewed from the communal or religious point of view.
The Jajpur MP suggested the Centre to include Sri Lanka in the list of countries where refugees would be allowed as Hindus and Muslims are being tortured in that country for decades.
She also urged the Central Government to take steps to clear the doubt among the Muslims who have been kept out of the purview of the Bill.
