“Catch the Rain Campaign” Gains Momentum in Odisha, Complets 10,000 RWHS in Just 75 Days

Bhubaneswar: The “Catch the Rain Campaign” that aims for conserving water has gained momentum in Odisha by completing 10,000 Rain Water Harvesting Structures (RWHS) across the State in a record span of 75 days.

This has been informed by the Housing & Urban Development Department.

The Campaign initiated under the State’s flagship scheme, MUKTA, in all 114 ULBs was executed in a mission mode with active participation from Mission Shakti Groups and SDAs as implementing agencies.

The RWHS are cost-effective, structures specially designed based on hydro-geological parameters prevailing in Odisha.
Encouraged by the success of the “Catch the Rain campaign”, the State Government has decided to construct additional 10,000 RWHS especially in the water stressed ULBs in western, northern and southern parts of the State, the Department informed.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has commended the H&UD Department for the achievement.
