New Delhi: Former Finance Minister P Chidambaram was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation on Wednesday evening.

In a dramatic turn of events,  the Congress leader made an appearance at the All India Congress Committee (AICC) headquarters in New Delhi to assert that he was not on the run.

He was formally arrested at the CBI headquarters after being taken into custody from his Jor Bagh home. He will be kept at the CBI headquarters tonight and will likely be produced at CBI Rouse Avenue court on Thursday morning.

He was incommunicado for 24 hours after the Delhi High Court turned down his anticipatory bail plea in connection with the INX Media scam case.

ED team has left Chidambaram’s residence while the CBI team is still there. Another CBI team is on it’s way to his residence.
