New Delhi: All centrally-protected monuments, sites and museums that were closed due to COVID-19 pandemic will reopen from June 16, the Archaeological Survey (ASI) of India said on Monday.
The monuments were closed during the second Covid wave in April this year.
“Considering the prevailing situation, it has been decided that all the Centrally Protected Monuments/ Sites and Museums (under ASI) shall be opened from 16.06.2021. This opening, however, shall be in strict compliance with the executive orders, if any, issued by the State/ District Disaster Management Authority,” the ASI said in an order.
Appropriate guidelines and SOPs issued by Union and State/ UT Ministries/ Deptt. in this regard shall be scrupulously followed while regulating the flow of visitors, the order added.
Monuments which are over a 100 years old falls under the ASI’s purview totalling 3,684 monuments.
