Chattisa Nijog to Decide Whether Chandan Yatra to Be Held Outside Srimandir

Puri: The Chattisa Nijog, the apex servitors’ body at Puri Jagannath temple, will take a call whether the annual Chandan Yatra of the Trinity will be held outside the premises of Srimandir.

This has been informed by the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) Chief Administrator Dr. Krishan Kumar after chairing a high level COVID management committee meeting of Srimandir through virtual mode.

He said that the Chattisa Nijog will decide whether the yatra will take place at the Narendra Pokhari (pond) at its crucial meeting to be held on May 11.

Before that, the Puri Collector will hold a meeting with all stakeholders regarding the conduct of the ritual, he added.

The Chandan Yatra is scheduled to begin from May 15 on Akshaya Tritiya.
