Bhubaneswar: With Odisha reporting two cases of the Omicron variant of Covid-19 yesterday and the nationwide infection numbers increasing rapidly, the Government of Odisha is on a proactive mode to face any challenge. As part of its strategy to tackle the situation, Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra will today hold an important meeting of the senior officials. The meeting will be held at the Lokseva Bhawan and attended by officials from the Health Department, Health Director, DMET and Director ILS among others. All SPs and Collectors will also participate in the meeting virtually.
The meeting will mainly focus on readying the health infrastructure to tackle the new variant including Beds, ICUs, Oxygen availability, medicines etc., testing and tracking of international passengers, contact tracing of positive cases, new measures to be taken to break the infection chain. The government is also expected to open special Omicron Blocks in the state hospitals.
