Ganjam: The death toll in the Chikiti hooch tragedy in Odisha’s Ganjam district rose to three as one more victim died on Saturday while undergoing treatment at MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur.
The deceased has been identified as Laxman Behera (60). He was from Jenapur village near Chikiti.
Earlier, two persons of the same village had succumbed to their conditions.
As per reports, four more patients are currently undergoing treatment in the hospital.
Earlier, a fact-finding team of the opposition Biju Janata Dal has visited Chikiti to review the ground situation and strongly criticized the government for the tragedy.
Notably, over 15 persons in Chikit block have fallen seriously ill after consuming spurious liquor in Maoundpur village, located within the jurisdiction of K Nuagaon police station in Chikiti block.
