Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has congratulated Smart City Rourkela on receiving the Award of Excellence as the Leader city in creating healthy streets.
Rourkela has been ranked among the top 11 cities in the country under the ‘Street for People & Cycling for Change’ initiative by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.
To make Smart City Rourkela more walking and cycling-friendly, RSCL has undertaken various initiatives.
The initiatives include road pedestrianization, pavement construction across the Ring Road, cycling tracks, median beautification, and overall efforts to create a cycling and walking-friendly environment throughout the city. Additionally, during the Hockey Men’s World Cup 2023, street festivals like Rahagiri and cyclothon were organized.
