CM Grieves Death of 2 Persons in Mahanadi Boat Tragedy, Announces Rs 4 Lakh Ex-Gratia 

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has grieved the death of two persons in a boat accident in river Mahanadi near Saradha under Lakhanpur block in Jharsuguda district.

The Chief Minister has expressed his deepest condolences to the bereaved families and has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh each for the next kin of the deceased.

The CM has also directed the district administration to provide proper treatment to all the rescued persons and wished them a speedy recovery.

RDC, Jharsuguda Collector and SP are currently supervising the rescue operations.

The Chief Minister has directed the Chief Secretary and SRC to coordinate rescue operations.

Five scuba divers and two search cameras are being sent to Jharsuguda by plane to rescue four missing persons.

It is worth noting that all 50 passengers in the boat were from Chhattisgarh and were visiting to Pataraseni area of Amavona block.
