Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has expressed his deep grief over the demise of eminent Odia singer Shantilata Barik, who passed away while undergoing treatment at a hospital in the capital city on Monday.
In a condolence message, the Chief Minister said that Shantilata Barik, a popular Bhajan singer, was a unique devotee of Lord Jagannath.
She was very popular for her Jagannath Bhajans with soulful vocals.
The Chief Minister described the demise of Shantilata Barik as an irreparable loss to the cultural world of Odisha.
The Chief Minister prayed peace to the departed soul and expressed deep condolences to the bereaved family.
The Chief Minister has also announced that the last rites of Shantilata Barik will be done with full state honours.
