Bhubaneswar: In a major decision that will help all-round socio-economic development of growing urban areas of the state, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today declared creation of 22 new Notified Area Councils and upgradation of Bhanjanagar NAC into Municipality. The 22 NACs belong to 13 districts of the state.
According to a release from the Chief Minister’s Office, Manamunda, Puruna Cuttack and Baunshuni of Boudh district, Loisingha and Sindhekela of Balangir district, Sohela in Bargarh, Baliapal and Khaira in Baleshwar, Dhamra in Bhadrak, Rasol in Dhenkanal district, Narla and Madanpur Rampur in Kalahandi and Kujang in Jagatsinghpur district have been declared as NAC.
Likewise, Bolagarh in Nayagarh, Sharankula and Kakatpur in Puri, Rengali and Bamanda in Sambalpur, and Subalya, Ulunda, and Rampur in Subarnapur district have also been declared Notified Area Councils.
The Chief Minister has taken this decision keeping in view the suggestions and grievances received during the visit of 5T Chairman Kartik Pandian to various districts and the need for development.
It is worth mentioning here that, in view of public demands, increasing population, development and economic growth, the Chief Minister has decided to form these NACs. The Chief Minister has also expressed hope that the newly formed Councils will work in the overall development of the region. Last month, the Chief Minister had announced the formation of 35 new NACs and 5 new municipalities.
