Bhubaneswar: In a major decision that will benefit the Self Employed Mechanics of Odisha, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has hiked their remuneration by a whopping 62.5 percent. According to a press release from the CMO, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has increased the remuneration of the Self Employed Mechanics working in Grampanchayats of the state. While their current remuneration is Rs. 4,000, the new remuneration will be Rs. 6,500. This is 62.50 per cent more than the current remuneration. This will benefit 13,000 Self-Employed Mechanics in the state.
It may be noted that, during the visit of 5T and Nabin Odisha Chairman Kartik Pandian to the districts, requests and suggestions for the same were received from Self Employed Mechanics and representatives from various places. The decision to increase the remuneration was taken after the 5T Chairman discussed the matter with the Chief Minister.
Self Employed Mechanics are engaged in the Grampanchayats of the state to provide clean drinking water to all the villages of the state regularly. To overcome the water crisis, two Self Employed Mechanics each are engaged in the Grampanchayats and they have been continuously providing services for piped water supply, maintenance and repair of tube wells.
