CM Naveen To Inaugurate Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bus Terminal In Bhubaneswar Today

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will inaugurate the Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bus Terminal in Bhubaneswar today. The newly constructed Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT) at Baramunda is ready for inauguration with airport like state-of-the art facilities for commuters. Spanning over 15.5 acres of land, the Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bus Terminal is poised to become a crucial transit hub not only for the residents of Odisha but also for those from neighboring states.

Built under the aegis of 5T Initiatives, it is a significant project that will benefit the people of Odisha by providing a modern and efficient transportation hub. The terminal is designed to cater to the needs of passengers and provide them with a comfortable and convenient experience. The terminal will provide a world-class travel experience to passengers and is equipped with modern amenities such as state-of-the-art Aahaar Centre, restaurants, multistoried car parking, pick-up/drop-off facility, solar panel system, and sewage treatment plant.

It also has provisions for police facilitation centre to ensure the safety of passengers, administrative building for managing the terminal operations, toilet facilities for passengers, ramp facilities for the convenience of passengers with disabilities, and baby feeding rooms for mothers travelling with infants. Besides, there will be children’s play area, a primary health clinic, and additional parking for seasonal buses.

Last week, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had approved the proposal to set up a Police Outpost in the premises of the Terminal to ensure passenger safety and security. With the terminal set to accommodate 700 to 800 buses daily initially, with potential future expansion to 1700 to 1800 buses, the passenger traffic is estimated to reach significantly to 35,000 to 45,000 individuals daily. The Police outpost will be staffed by 89 police personnel including 2 sub-inspectors, 9 assistant sub-inspectors, 4 habildars, 72 constables and 2 drivers.
