CM Orders to Withdraw Petty Cases against Tribals

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday ordered to withdraw petty cases against the tribals.

On the direction of the Chief Minister, the Home, Excise and Forest & Environment Departments reviewed the trivial cases registered against the tribals in the State.

After the review, a total of 48,018 cases related to forest and excise offences in the above three sections have been decided to be withdrawn.

Among these cases, 36,581 cases under the Excise Department, 9,846 cases under the Housing Department, and 1,591 cases under the Forest & Environment Department have been withdrawn.

Withdrawal of these cases will also reduce the pressure on the courts and the judicial system, according to an official release.
