Commissionerate Police Asks to Remove 249 Objectionable Posts from Social Media Platforms

Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police has asked to remove 249 objectionable posts and videos from social media platforms.

The Police has issued notices to different social media platforms for the removal of offensive posts.

The list includes 68 posts from Facebook, 144 posts from Instagram and 37 posts from X platform (formerly Twitter).

As many as 110 social media handles are under strict surveillance of the cyber cell, it said.

The Police has set up a Cyber Help Desk to address fake news and misleading information during the election process. This initiative operates under the Voluntary Code of Ethics to manage quick responses to fake news or unverified media stories related to elections.

The focus is on issues such as electronic voting machines (EVMs), electoral rolls, law and order, postal ballots, and disinformation campaigns in various social media formats, the Commissionerate Police said.
