Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police has cracked down on an organized ‘fake police’ gang involved in various criminal cases.
Seven members of the gang involved in cheating, snatching and other 11 criminal cases have been arrested by the police. They were from Madhya Pradesh.
The police have also seized cash worth Rs 3.5 lakh, gold ornaments, gemstones, a car, two motorcycles, six mobile phones and various incriminating documents from their possession, according to reports.
The members of the gang, who were impersonating themselves as police officers, were targeting elderly ladies and men, especially single persons, who were out of houses for evening or morning walks.
