Containment Returns To Puri With Detection of Three Omicron Cases

Puri: The Puri District administration has declared Micro Containment Zones in the city to curb the spread of the Covid-19 virus. This comes after the city reported three new cases of Covid-19 infection with Omicron variant. The administration has declared Hotel Sona International and its vicinity in Ward No.11 as a Micro containment zone as two of the staff members of a Hotel near sea beach and a tourist were found to be infected with the Omicron variant of the dreaded virus.

Collector Samarth Verma issued orders to impose restrictions in the said area which will be sanitized soon. Meanwhile, the administration has collected samples of all the guests and hotel staff and sent those for genome sequencing. According to the Order issues, no public will be allowed to move into the micro containment zone and inhabitants in the zone will not be allowed to move out. All the inhabitants within the Micro Containment Zone shall strictly remain in the home. All the shopping establishments of whatsoever nature should be closed immediately. The supply of essential commodities and medical requirements will be ensured through various Teams under the direction of the Executive Officer, Puri Municipality.

All the Government and private Institutions located within the boundary of the containment zone are closed forthwith. The shutdown period will be effective from 7 am of January 3 till further orders.
