Bhubaneswar: In a preventive measure, Thermal Sensing Screening of Passengers has been started at the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) here.
A health team comprising doctors from Capital Hospital here has been deployed at the airport for screening of passengers arriving here in the wake of outbreak of a novel corona virus (nCoV).
The State Government has ensured the screening facility as Bhubaneswar has a direct flight service with Malaysia, where three confirmed cases of nCoV have been reported.
Speaking to media, Health and Family Welfare Secretary Nikunja Bihari Dhal said, “In Malaysia there are three confirmed cases nCoV. So, screening facility has been started at the Bhubaneswar airport because we have direct flight connection with Kuala Lumpur of Malaysia.”
Meanwhile, Airport Director VV Rao said, if any passenger reaches here with symptoms like runny nose, cough and sore throat, the airline officials will immediately contact the team of doctors present at the airport and the doctors will check the concerned passenger in an isolation room which have been opened at the hospital.”.
