Bhubaneswar: A corona positive woman gave birth to a healthy baby at a community health centre in Odisha.
The good news came from the tribal-dominated Kandhamal district.
A resident of Chakapada block, Ritanjali Sahu (19) was admitted to the community health centre at Brahmanpad after she complained of labour pain. The expectant mother tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday.
The delivery was done with utmost care and precautions. The woman gave birth a healthy baby. Both mother and the child were then shifted to an isolation ward at CHC, informed Dr Nishant Nayak, who conducted the delivery.
The mother and her baby are now under observation, he added.
Earlier on Saturday, an 83-year-old man from Kandhamal district has defeated the second wave of COVID-19, lifting the spirit of other patients, who are currently battling with the dangerous disease.
The octogenarian from Baliguda block, Shyamghan Panda, has recovered from the virus after undergoing treatment at Badagaon COVID Care Centre.
Both the positive developments in the district have brought cheers to all amidst the pandemic gloom.
