Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar Member of Parliament Aparajita Sarangi’s criticism of the 5-T initiative in Odisha seems to be a desperate attempt to seek cheap publicity and hog political limelight. With this she has just landed herself among the people who are always having a negative mindset and politicize everything that they can.
Aparajita’s remarks on implementation of one of the best practices in governance in the state may get her political mileage but with this she is denting a process that intends to develop the state. If one sees the timing of the remarks, it’s clear to understand that the Bharatiya Janata Party has no issues to raise and wants to politicize the 5-T initiative. Being a former bureaucrat, she should be aware that implementing the 5-T initiative is the need of the hour. She may have known it during her stint as an officer, but there should not be any questions on its implementation. After getting into the role of a politician, she forgot her own past and her administrative acumen.
Her attacks on the state government seem to be centred around the successful implementation of the 5-T Initiative and the man who is in charge. She could not digest the success and the positive feedback being received for this wonderful governance initiative. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik wants to bring in a citizen centric governance and for this he has given a vision which is being implemented by the Secretary 5-T Initiatives.
Raising the issue she has just started demoralizing the people who want true people’s governance. There are many examples where the Bharatiya Janata Party led government at the center also appointed special officers for special initiatives. Hence, Aparajita’s comments are seemed to be immature when she says the 5-T Initiative is centered around one person and one department. It’s a collective effort and all departments are implementing the 5-T charter. Also, on the other hand she should appraise the center regarding the developments going on in the state and recommend the good practices like 5-T for implementation by the later and other states.
The sudden political blame game of the Member of Parliament to disrupt the process may not succeed as people of Odisha would never believe her. She must understand that this is not the responsibility of a single department or a single officer to implement a good practice. With a strong political leadership and an able administration can bring in a deserved change and that is what being done in Odisha.
Fearful of losing people’s support, Aparajita today joined the naysayers in criticizing the government. But first of all she should learn to appreciate the good things around her. During her tenure in various important capacities in Odisha, she also got the chance to work under the leadership of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and she better knows that he wants good governance should prevail at any cost. Everything cannot be judged on the basis of political affiliations and administrative matters are different strata away.
