Bhubaneswar: Catering to the needs of the travellers, the Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT), a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) of the Odisha Government’s Housing & Urban Development (H & UD) Department, is planning to add 189 more buses this year to the fleet of 200 buses plying under Mo Bus service.
At present, the CRUT operates a fleet of 200 buses and there are a need and demand for more buses with an increase in footfall, said CRUT General Manager Dipti Mohapatra.
She said that the Mo Bus network will be expanded this year and 189 buses will be added to the fleet.
Out of 189 new buses, 50 will be electric buses, the tender process for which is over and the agency has been selected. The buses will soon ply in the Capital Region, she added.
Another 50 buses will be new diesel buses and rest 89 old buses will be added to the fleet after refurbishment, the work for which has started already, she further stated.
Mo Bus service, which Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had inaugurated on November 6, 2018, has soon gained immense popularity as a passenger-friendly public transport bus service covering all major destinations across the Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Puri and Khordha.
Meanwhile, the CRUT has decided to continue reduced AC fares in technology-driven, citizen-friendly Mo Bus service for the next two months.
AC bus fare which was slashed up to 38% in December 2019 will continue till 31st March 2020.
