The fire service personnel reached the Jhanhara village risking their own lives on getting information about a pregnant woman struggling to reach hospital as road was blocked by fallen trees due to heavy and strong winds under the impact of super cyclone ‘Amphan’ this morning.
The lady was undergoing severe labour pain and the team immediately picked up the woman for treatment.
The fire service personnel cleared trees from the road and carried the pregnant woman in a fire service van to the hospital. She, however, gave birth to a girl child inside the vehicle. They took the duo to the Community Health Centre, Mahakalapada, for further treatment. The timely and dedicated effort of the fire service personnel saved two precious lives.
The Chief Minister lauded the act of humanity and compassion of the fire service personnel.
