Bhubaneswar: As Odisha Government has launched a massive evacuation drive in coastal districts in view of cyclone Amphan, DIG (Central Range) Ashish Kumar Singh has played a key role in the evacuation efforts.
Singh, who visited Kendrapara district on Monday to take stock of preparedness to face the impending natural disaster, persuaded people, who were unwilling to leave their homes, to move to safer places.
The DIG visited several remote areas in the district and appealed the people to shift to safer places. He also distributed foods to them.
Singh instructed the district police to remain fully prepared to deal with any eventuality.
Odisha’s Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Pradeep Jena lauded the efforts of the DIG.
Notably, the Odisha Government has evacuated around 1.20 lakh people from low-lying and vulnerable areas to safer places.
