New Delhi: With the well-marked low pressure area over southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining south Andaman Sea concentrating into a depression, many parts of Andaman And Nicobar islands are witnessing rains. The system is likely to move northwards along and off Andaman and Nicobar Islands and intensify into a deep depression during the next 24 hours. According to MET predictions, it will intensify into a cyclonic storm during the subsequent 12 hours.
Under its influence, light to moderate rainfall is being recorded in various places of the island. Winds reaching speeds upto 55-65 kmph and gusting to 75 kmph are likely to prevail over Andaman and Nicobar Islands, eastcentral Bay of Bengal and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal from tomorrow morning.
While fishermen have been advised not to venture out during the next two days, NDRF teams have been deployed to face any situation. People from low lying areas are being evacuated to safer places.
