Cyclone Mandous to Have No Direct Impact on Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The possible cyclonic storm Mandous will have no direct impact on Odisha, informed the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday.

Under the influence of Mandous, several districts in Odisha are likely to witness light to moderate rainfall on December 10.

As per the Meteorological Centre Bhubaneswar, one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Ganjam and Gajapati may experience rainfall.

The Low Pressure Area over Southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining south Andaman sea now lies as a Well Marked Low Pressure Area over Southeast Bay of Bengal. The associated cyclonic circulation extends upto mid tropospheric levels.

It is likely to move west northwestwards and concentrate into a depression over Southeast Bay of Bengal by today evening. Thereafter, it is likely to continue to move west northwestwards, intensify further gradually into a Cyclonic Storm and reach Southwest Bay of Bengal near north Tamil Nadu­Puducherry and adjoining south Andhra Pradesh coasts by 08th December morning, the IMD said.
