Puri: With severe cyclone storm Yaas inching closer to make landfall, the Puri administration has stepped up its efforts to shift people from low-lying areas in the district.
Evacuation of people from coastal areas is in full swing, informed Puri SP Dr. Kanwar Vishal Singh through his Twitter handle.
The SP interacted with ODRAF team members and other officers and discussed about the evacuation and other preparations.
He also visited Astarang and Kakatpur Blocks with Puri Collector Samarth Verma and supervised various the security and Law & Order related aspects.
Timely Evacuation of people in coastal villages is ongoing smoothly and in full swing in Puri, he said.
More than 3500 people have been evacuated from low-lying areas along the coast in the district so far, according to sources.
