Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government today urged the Collectors of all districts to closely monitor the situation in view of severe cyclonic storm ‘NIVAR’ over southwest Bay of Bengal.
Even though, the cyclonic storm will have no direct impact over districts of Odisha as per the IMD prediction, the State Government has directed the Collectors to closely monitor the situation.
In a letter to Collectors, the Office of Special Relief Commissioner asked them to keep the administration alert and in readiness to meet any eventuality.
Meanwhile, the SRC has urged the fishermen not to venture into deep sea areas of southwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal during next 24 hours.
As per the latest bulletin of IMD, the cyclonic storm NIVAR will have no direct impact over the districts of Odisha and as such there is no warning for the State. However, light to moderate rainfall activity is likely to occur in some districts in the State during November 25-26, the IMD stated.
