Deep Depression: Gajapati Admin Shifts over 500 People to Safer Places

Parlakhemundi: The Gajapati district administration has shifted over 500 people to safer places in view of the heavy rainfall caused by the deep depression over west-central Bay of Bengal.

More than 500 people have been shifted from 12 villages of four blocks to safer places due to heavy rain, informed the district administration.

The administration has also arranged free kitchen at Kulung village of Badakalakote GP for the people.

Besides, polythene sheets were also given to 15 persons at Siali GP, who reported leakage in their homes due to incessant rain.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued yellow warning for eights districts in Odisha in connection with the deep depression over west central Bay of Bengal.

The districts, such as Malkangiri, Rayagada, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Gajapati Ganjam, Puri and Jagatsinghpur, are expected to witness heavy rainfall today.
