Delhi Police nabs wanted member of ‘Tillu Tajpuriya’ gang

New Delhi: The Special Cell of Delhi Police has arrested a wanted criminal, a member of the notorious ‘Tillu Tajpuriya’ gang, an official said on Tuesday.

Police said that they have also recovered one pistol and 8 bullets from the possession of the arrested individual identified as Chandan Singh a.k.a. Pintu, 29, a resident of Shahbad Dairy area.

He was wanted in a case of criminal intimidation and firing at a cafe in Shahbad Dairy area.

Pintu is also an active ‘Bad Character’ at Shahbad Dairy police station and is previously involved in more than 27 cases of theft, robbery, attempt to murder, murder and Arms Act among others.

According to Rajiv Ranjan Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell), on December 10, inputs were received that Pintu is roaming in the area of Rohini along with his associates in a white Tata Nexon car to attack the rival gang members and sympathisers of Gogi Gang.

“Accordingly, a police team was formed and a search was made about the alleged car. During the search, the alleged car with two occupants was seen in the area of C-Block, Sector-11, Rohini, Delhi. After identification, the car was intercepted and Pintu was apprehended successfully,” said the DCP.

In 2012, Pintu along with his associates started committing burglary, robbery and dacoity and was arrested on several occasions in different police stations of Delhi till 2014.

In 2015, he went to jail in a case of firing where he came in contact with infamous gangster Sunil a.k.a. Tillu Tajpuriya. After that, he joined the gang of Tillu and started committing crimes with the other gang members.

In 2016, he along with Tillu Tajpuriya and other associates murdered one person in the area of Murthal, Sonipat. Later, he was convicted and awarded life imprisonment by the court in that case. Later, he was out on court bail

“It has also been revealed that he used to procure weapons for the gang members. He is a habitual offender,” said the official.
