Deliberate Attempt by Union Education Min to Show Odisha Education System in Poor Light: BJD

Bhubaneswar: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Saturday alleged that the Union Education Ministry is indulging in politics to show education system in Odisha in poor light.

Expressing his shock over the fall in the ranking of Odisha in the Performance Grading Index (PGI) report of schools by the Ministry of Education, the BJD MP Dr. Sasmit Patra said, “It is obvious that this is a deliberate attempt by the Union Education Ministry to show Odisha education in poor light and to defame the people of Odisha”.

Odisha is getting awarded by the Union Government for excellent performance in various sectors such as rural housing, MNREGA, Skill Development, Sports Promotion, Disaster Management and many others, the BJD MP said.

About 8000 High Schools are being transformed in Odisha which is providing high-quality education to lakhs of students of Odisha. When Odisha has launched Mo School Abhiyan which is unique in the country and is being appreciated by people across State, it is shocking to see the fall in the ranking of Odisha in the Performance Grading Index (PGI) report of schools by the Ministry of Education, he added.

It is obvious that this is a deliberate attempt by the Union Education Ministry to show Odisha education in poor light and to defame the people of Odisha, Dr. Patra stated.

No wonder that the ranks of Utkal University, Sambalpur University, Berhampur University are also being reduced in rankings, he further said.

The BJD MP said, “It is sad and unfortunate that the Union Education Ministry is indulging in such kind of politics at that cost of the education system of Odisha. We don’t recognise the rating given by Ministry of Education as it is more to do with politics than merit”.
