Puri: The demolition process of the Puri Emar Matha began early Thursday amidst tight security and supervision of District Collector Balwant Singh who is on the spot and looking after all the operations. Other officials of the district administration are also present at the site. Workers have started removing the structure from the top most fourth floor of the dilapidated building which also houses the Raghunandan Library.
Yesterday the belongings of the library and other rooms were removed to safer places. The age old building was earlier declared unsafe and is also comes under the 75 meters periphery of the Lord Jagannath Temple which need to be removed.
The eviction process is in full swing with 30 platoons of police force have been deputed to maintain security at the spot.
The administration has also taken steps to avoid any kind of trouble to the pilgrims coming to the Darshan of Lord Jagannath and smooth traffic movement during the eviction drives carried out near the Jagannath Temple to demolish unsafe and unauthorized structure of EMAR Matha.
The main deity and Gaddi will be preserved.
