Depression Formed Over Central Bay of Bengal, Likely to Intensify Into Cyclone Over Eastcentral BoB Tomorrow
Bhubaneswar: The well-marked low pressure area over west-central and adjoining south Bay of Bengal moved north-eastwards and concentrated into Depression over Central Bay of Bengal at 0530hrs today morning. According to the Indian Meteorological Department, it is likely to move northeastwards and intensify further into a cyclone over east-central BoB by tomorrow morning. Subsequently, it would move nearly northwards and intensify into a severe cyclone by 25th evening. Continuing to move nearly northward, it is very likely to cross Bangladesh and adjoining West Bengal coasts between Sagar Island and Khepupara around 26th May midnight as a severe cyclonic storm.
The IMD has forecast that light to moderate rain/thundershowers very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Coastal Odisha, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Dhenkanal, Angul, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh and dry weather very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha. The Department has also issued yellow warning for thunderstorm with lightning that is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Koraput, Rayagada, Malkangiri.
