Puri: The world famous Jagannath temple in Puri today reopened for all devotees after remaining out of bounds for about four months due to Covid-19 pandemic. People from all walks of life were seen thronging to the temple with much devotion. The Temple administration has made elaborate arrangement to manage the crowds and maintain the Covid protocols in the temple. The Temple will be open from 7 am in the morning to 7 pm in the evening. It will be closed on Saturdays and Sundays for sanitization and cleaning purposes. Devotees entering the temple are required to produce a Covid-19 negative test report done within 96 hours or a double vaccination certificate.
Speaking on the reopening of the temple, Chief Administrator Dr Krishan Kumar has said that the “Darshan for all devotees has been started from today. we have made elaborate arrangements for hassle free darshan of the deities. There will not be any problem even if about thirty thousand people come to the temple. We are strictly implementing the two important criteria for the devotees i.e., Covid-19 test report or the full vaccination certificate.”
He also said that “We are getting full support from the devotees, police and servitors. We are strictly implementing the usage of masks and sanitisers. The process of putting up eight silver doors inside the temple is progressing well. The management committee has been formed and will have its first meeting on the 26th of this month. ”
