Koraput: Odisha Director General of Police (DGP) Abhay on Saturday visited Koraput district to review the anti-Maoists operations. The DGP held meeting with the top officials including the six Superintendents of Police Senior officials of paramilitary forces BSF and SOG were also present during the meeting, according to reports. He also reviewed law and order situation in the district. He had a detailed discussion on the Left Wing Extremism in the border areas of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Chattisgarh and Jharkhand.
Held at the SWR (police) headquarters, the meeting also discussed on safety of women and children, and curbing of ganja cultivation in the remote areas. The meeting was attended by ADG (Law and Order) R P Koche, Additional Director cum IG (Intelligence) RK Sharma, IG (Operations) Amitabh Thakur, DIG-SIW Anirudha Singh, South Western Range DIG Shafeen Ahamed, and other senior officials of the district.
It was the first visit of Abhay to any district after assuming the charge as Director General of Police (DGP) and head of police force in Odisha.
