Bhubaneswar: Much to the cheer of twin city residents, an advanced and disaster resilient power supply system is likely to be put in place in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack by December 2020.
Odisha Chief Secretary, Asit Tripathy has directed the Gridco to complete the task in next six months.
Reviewing the progress of the projects of the Gridco, Tripathy directed the officials concerned to workout advanced implementation schedule for each phase of the work.
He also directed the authorities to resolve the ground level issues by active coordination with the energy department, general administration, GRIDCO and executing agency.
Tripathy set time lines for different phases of the project and target was set to complete the entire project by December, 2020.
Development Commissioner Suresh Chandra Mohapatra advised to remove all the overhead cablings from the main city area soon after commissioning of underground cabling.
Additional Chief Secretary and Special Relief Commissioner Pradeep Kumar Jena who also attended the review meeting advised to make the advanced power system, which can resilient the wind speed of 300 km per hour.
Principal Secretary Energy N.B.Dhal appraised that the new system would meet electrical load demand up to 1300 MW. It would ensure 24×7 uninterrupted quality power supply at all voltage levels because of the ring supply system.
The system would also reduce transmission & distribution loss, electrical accidents, operation and maintenance cost and improve aesthetic look of the city.
