Keonjhar: With an aim to facilitate academic excellence added with learning support and career counseling, the Keonjhar administration has taken up an ambitious initiative called DMF Sankalp. Under this initiative, Block level learning and career counseling centres will be constructed across all the 13 Blocks of Keonjhar.
DMF Sankalp is an initiative of facilitating excellence to the youth of Keonjhar District under which Block Level Library/Learning and Career Counselling Centres will be developed in each of the 13 blocks of the district. The focus of the initiative is towards developing early learning capabilities in children, academic excellence in students and exam competitiveness in aspiring youth of the district.
Each Center will be built on an area of one acre and will constitute a state of the library having a capacity of 15,000 books in English, Odia, Hindi and other languages on Arts and Science, General Knowledge, competitive exams and literature. Aesthetic reading spaces for books, newspapers and publications for 200 persons will be there distributed on each floor. The surrounding garden will be developed as green reading space, open to all users avoiding cumbersome membership processes.
Digital Library systems connecting the servers of National Digital Library, Odisha Archives, Odisha Secretariat Library and E-Libraries of reputed Indian Institutions will be accessible to the users along with a free Wi-Fi zone in the learning centre. The DMF Sankalp Center will have exclusive space for the youth who are preparing for various state government and central government Competitive Examinations with exclusive preparation space. A Seminar Space for 50 persons will host lectures and Career counselling sessions by subject experts.
Early learning of children will be provided through a Children Learn and Play Space in the library. Science and Sensory garden including, Perfume, Tactile, Resonance and Nature Play Garden will invoke the sensory development process of the children. There are provisions for display of simplified scientific processes. To make it energy efficient and more eco friendly, natural light and ventilation is maximized through naturally lit Reading Spaces and open to sky internal exhibition space. Rainwater Harvesting Systems and site development will also follow environment friendly technologies.
