Bhubaneswar: In a late night operation, the Bhubaneswar–Cuttack Commissionerate Police has arrested a dreaded criminal Jitendra Palei from Bankuala in the outskirts of capital Bhubaneswar. Jitendra was caught after an encounter of the special squad police team of the Commissionerate police. The police had to fire in self defence as the criminal fired at the police team.
According to reports, he has sustained bullet injury in the left leg and has been sent to the SCB Medical College Hospital in Cuttack for treatment.
After getting information about the movement of Jitendra, a police team led by the IIC of Kharvel Nagar police station and other officers chased Jitendra from near Tankapani road and intercepted him near Bankual, but as he started firing at the police team, the police had to retaliate, in which he was injured. Jitendra is involved in a number of criminal cases in Bhubaneswar including the bombing of a jewelery shop owner, bombing, attempt to murder, kidnapping etc,.
