Bhubaneswar: In a mid night operation by the Commissionerate police, dreaded wanted criminal Sushant Majhi has been apprehended after encounter. Majhi is involved in a number of crimes committed in Bhubaneswar and nearby areas. Hailing from Nayagarh district, Majhi is notorious for looting and dakayati cases. Acting on a tip off, the commissionerate police swung into action. He was arrested after being injures in an encounter in the Kalinga Nagar K7 area in the mid night. The culprit had fired at the police and in retaliation the police had to fire. A revolver and some magazines were recovered on the spot. Susant Majhi is involved in the Rs 60 lakh loot from a bank in Tangi area. Injured Majhi has been taken to the SCB medical Cuttack.
In another encounter, the a joint team of Nirakarpur police and Tangi police yesterday night arrested Jamshed Khan, a dreaded criminal following an encounter near Rameshwar in Khurda district. The police had to open fire as Khan hurled a desi bomb at the police injuring two IICs and two others.
